The Centre for Brain and Mind (CBM) invites online applications for the post of Project Associate under its interdisciplinary research program. CBM is a joint scientific initiative of the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), supported by Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies.
🧠 About the CBM Program
The program focuses on cutting-edge research in human mental illness, using patient-derived human-induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and advanced brain tissue models. The research is aimed at understanding human mental illness, developing better diagnostic approaches, and improving clinical management strategies.
The work involves:
- Generation and analysis of iPSC lines
- Neural differentiation & Brain organoid generation
- Genome editing for disease modelling

Basic Information
Name of the Post: Project Associate

Salary: As per institute norms (consolidated pay based on qualification and experience)
Age Limit: 30 years as on 31 December 2025
Nature of Appointment: Fixed-term contract for 1 year (Renewable based on performance). Position available immediately.
🎓 Qualification & Experience
Essential:
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum 2 years of research experience
- Hands-on experience in Molecular biology, Stem cell culture, or Neuroscience-related research
⭐ Desirable:
- Experience in stem cell culture or genome editing
- Ability to work independently and in collaborative teams
