The premier national entrance exam for admission into DBT-supported postgraduate programs across India's top participating universities and institutes.
Purpose & Authority
Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) & DBT for:
- Admission to DBT-supported M.Sc, M.Tech, and M.V.Sc programs in Biotechnology.
- Evaluation of aptitude and subject knowledge in Life Sciences.
- Promotion of advanced biotechnology research across India.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following academic standards:
- Degree: B.Sc / B.Tech / B.E in Biotechnology or related Life Science disciplines.
- Status: Final-year undergraduate students are eligible to apply.
- Age Limit: There is generally no upper age limit to appear for the GAT-B exam.
Exam Pattern & Structure
Part A: General Science
Objective questions (10+2 level) focusing on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.
Part B: Core Subject
Advanced Multiple Choice Questions covering undergraduate-level Biotechnology and Life Sciences.
